approaching Lassen

We're MILE HIGH, literally as we prepare to set camp on the beautiful active volcano of Lassen (Itlast erupted   only 100 years ago.

She has loomed before us for about 60 miles!  beautiful!!

We're going up and up!!  Fortunately, the road is not as treacherous as Hwy 199  that cut across CA from the coast.

It's already gotten significantly colder than 45 miles ago in Redding and 3000 ft lower...

We've arrived.  It is cold.  It's a rather crowded site.  I hope we can get some privacy tomorrow.
